Understanding the person within the system

I'm a psychotherapist with 15 years' experience working with people across schools, private practice, charities and community organisations. I believe that to understand a person, you have to understand their system — the family they grew up in, the culture that shaped them, the roles they were given before they could choose their own.

My work is grounded in humanistic, trauma-informed and systemic approaches. That means I see you as a whole person — not a diagnosis, not a set of symptoms, but someone shaped by experiences, relationships and the world around them. I think deeply about diversity, identity and the ways that culture, race and family history influence how we parent, how we relate to others, and how we see ourselves.

As a therapeutic supervisor, I support therapists, school staff, charity workers and teachers — helping them reflect on their practice, manage the emotional weight of the work, and develop confidence in their professional identity.

Therapeutic approaches

I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. My practice draws from three core foundations, adapted to what each person or family needs.

Humanistic

At the heart of everything I do is the belief that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to create a space where you feel safe enough to explore what's really going on — without judgement, without being told what to do. Genuine warmth, honesty and respect are non-negotiable.

Systemic

We are shaped by our relationships — with our families, our cultures, our communities. I think systemically, which means looking at patterns, roles and dynamics, not just individual symptoms. Sometimes the question isn't "what's wrong with you?" but "what happened around you?"

Trauma-Informed

Many of the difficulties people bring to therapy have roots in experiences of trauma — whether that's a single event or the cumulative impact of growing up in an environment that wasn't safe. I work with an understanding of how trauma lives in the body, shapes our nervous system, and influences the way we relate to others.

People don't exist in isolation. When we understand the systems around us — family, school, community — we begin to understand ourselves.

Services

01

Individual Therapy

A confidential space to explore what's on your mind — whether that's anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, identity, cultural pressures, life transitions, or something you can't quite put into words yet. We work at your pace, in your way.

02

Parenting Support

Parenting is the hardest thing most people will ever do — and often the thing they get least support with. I work with parents navigating challenging behaviour, family conflict, school difficulties, and the emotional toll of trying to get it right. Informed by systemic thinking, attachment theory and NVR.

03

School-Based Counselling

I have extensive experience providing therapeutic support within secondary school settings — working with young people who are struggling with behaviour, anxiety, peer relationships, family difficulties, identity and self-esteem. I understand the school system and how to work within it effectively.

04

Therapeutic Supervision

Supervision for therapists, counsellors, school staff, charity workers and teachers. I offer a reflective, supportive space to explore your work, your blind spots, and the impact the role has on you. Whether you're a trainee or an experienced practitioner, supervision is where the real learning happens.

Non-Violent Resistance (NVR)

NVR is an evidence-based approach developed by Professor Haim Omer for families dealing with challenging, aggressive, controlling or self-destructive behaviour in children and young people. It shifts the focus from trying to control the child to strengthening the parent's presence and building a network of support.

As a trained NVR facilitator, I run programmes for parents that offer practical tools and a community of people who understand what you're going through.

Presence Over Control

You don't need to win every battle. You need to show up — calmly, consistently, and with conviction.

The Baskets

Not all behaviours need the same response. Learn to prioritise what matters most and let go of the rest.

Support Networks

You're not meant to do this alone. NVR builds a circle of people around your family — breaking the isolation.

De-escalation

When things heat up, you need a plan. NVR gives you practical tools to stay calm when everything in you wants to react.
